The multi-purpose outdoor stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the London Stadium is interested in installing solar panels on its rooftop for which it has now launched a competitive bidding round with an expression of interest (EOI).
The £3 million project will see the winner covering the stadium roof with panels as the contracting authority London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) sees it as the best option to maximize its energy generation. Procurement contract to be signed will have 25 years duration.
Broad scope of work for the winning bidder also includes up to 25 years of maintenance work. According to local media reports, this project needs to come online between March 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024.
The EOI notification was issued on June 23, 2023, and bids can be submitted till July 24, 2023. Details are available on the website of Delta eSourcing that running this exercise.
Earlier this year in February 2023, LLDC had announced its plans to have solar power for the London Stadium to bring down its carbon emissions, aligned with London City’s commitment to become a zero carbon city by 2030.
