China PV News Snippets: Seraphim, GS-Solar, SPIC

Seraphim Enters 150 MW Solar Module Supply Deal With Raystech Group; GS-Solar Launches Polycrystalline HJT Bifacial Module

  • Seraphim will supply 150 MW solar modules to wholesale solar distributor Raystech Group
  • GS-Solar claims to have launched the world’s first polyscrystalline HJT bifacial module
  • TUV Rheinland has accorded Huanghe Hydropower (SPIC) the certification for its IBC single-glass module

Seraphim secures 150 MW solar module supply deal: Jiangsu Seraphim Solar System Co. Ltd. will be supplying 150 MW of solar module capacity to wholesale solar distributor Raystech Group, as per an agreement signed between the 2 at SNEC 2020. Seraphim will supply its S3 series half-cell modules with an output of up to 440W and conversion efficiency of over 19.78%. The Chinese company produces these modules using 166 mm silicon cells, multi-busbar (MBB) and half-cut cell technologies. This deal with Raystech follows a 50 MW supply agreement executed in June 2020, said Seraphim.

Polycrystalline HJT bifacial module from GS-Solar: GS-Solar launched a new module product at SNEC 2020 calling it the world’s first polycrystalline heterojunction (HJT) bifacial module. As the name suggests, it uses polycrystalline silicon wafers and HJT technology with a conversion efficiency of up to 23.5%. GS-Solar says the bifacial rate of the module is 90%. As per a news report by Photovoltaic Headlines, GS-Solar believes that the non-silicon cost of polycrystalline HJT is likely to come down to less than RMB 0.3 ($0.043) per W in the near future thereby lowering the comprehensive cost of the cell to less than RMB 0.5 ($0.072) per W.

Huanghe Hydropower gets TUV Rheinland certification: Huanghe Hydropower Development Xining Solar Power Co., Ltd. (SPIC) has secured the IBC single-glass module certification from German testing agency TUV Rheinland. After completing the IEC 61215/61730:2016 standard test and a strict factory audit, the company says it has become the first domestic photovoltaic company to obtain the new German TUV Rheinland IEC certification for IBC single-glass and double-glass cell modules. Its N-type IBC single glass module comes with back contact cells, an all black backsheet and a black frame design. The company says its IBC mass produced cells have more than 23.6% average conversion efficiency.

In May 2020, Huanghe Hydropower reported 23.2% average power conversion efficiency for its N-type TOPCon high efficiency bifacial solar cell (see Huanghe Hydropower TOPCon Cell Efficiency: 23.2%).
